Postmortem

The good:

- Game feels fun and is simple to understand!
The controls are as clunky as I wanted them, the story and the characters are very goofy, I'm very satisfied with the result!
It helps that I had frequent playtests, starting as soon as I had the 3Cs and the level layout. The feedback made the game a lot better.

- Had a blast doing it, really liked the theme (it doesn't happen often)
I actually could not think about anything else and had 2 hours of spare time in 5 days, maybe I went a bit overboard...
But you know, it's still a very positive experience, and after I'm done gathering my stamina back, I'll be on the road again!

- Had fun doing the voiceovers
Have you ever tried recording a duck voice? And giving the duck feelings?? That's what I live for now.
Also I had music from my brother and sound design work from a friend, and the results are in: they rock!

The bad:
- Looks bad (imo), I had only visual placeholders until 1 hour before the deadline
I didn't time the project very well! In the end, I think the placeholder visuals were better than the final results?
Also I really need to get better at both character and environment art, this is not good.

- Had to take days off to work on it
Yeah, since I didn't time the project very well and there was a lot of work, I took a day and a half off to work on the project!
I take half a day every week, but this time it's been a lot more...

- Not enough sound design
While I had voiceovers, that's all I had! No steps, no knock sound, no door opening, etc.
It would certainly have added a lot to the immersion, if there is such a thing in this game.

Next time:
- Maybe a theme which'll motivate me as much? Or maybe I need to find better ideas when the theme doesn't motivate me!
- A much smaller scope so I don't get burned out, haha
- More playtests, the ones I did helped a lot!
