I still have a black background instead of transparent one, but no matter, this is so good, thanks for your work :D

Tried the new installer, it seems to be fixed now. Thanks!

Sweet! You have now access to the full Tako experience!

Is the scroll wheel supposed to make the application unusable? cause that's what happens.

Hi, can you elaborate on what happens?

i cant download it it in my PC

pain peko

Hey, can you give more details?

(1 edit)

I suggest a text file that contains game instruction because some just install the game without reading anything on the page...

is the coins feature not finished yet? coins amount won't go up nor down even tho I received a lot already.. it's still 24

Don't worry, nobody would read the .txt either! I just don't mind it when people don't read the instructions.

The coins feature is finished but not released, right now you can gain some but only when the Tako needs entertainment! Playing via the GAMES menu yields no coins.

Hello! I would like to know if there would be more songs that will be added

Hey, sorry for the late reply! That's not part of my plan for now, but we'll see!

It's just a suggestion. but would you consider making it so you can give head pats to the Takodachi? My other suggestion is for the shop. I personally think it would be very neat if you could change your Tako into a marshmallow Tako for a price.

(+1)

Head pats are an excellent idea! I might just do that hehe

The shop was supposed to contain cosmetics you add on the tako (such as a hat), what would a marshmallow tako look like?

(1 edit) (+1)

If you look in the Emoji section of Ina's chats. There's a white Takodachi. Most people use it as a ghost Tako, but it's actually supposed to be a marshmallow one. It's really just a white Tako in the end though.

(1 edit) (+1)

Oh, it looks toasted, that's cute!

I'll see what I can do, it's more work since it changes the whole skin of the Tako, but it's doable!

(+2)

That's awesome! I don't mean to make more work for you but I figure giving ideas can never hurt. Well at least not in this context...

Hello! Whenever I try to open the app, it shows the unity screen and just crashes. The window is still open and I have to exit it. I'm unsure if this is a problem with my PC or something else, but it was working just fine the night before. I've tried restarting my PC, reinstalling, trying the zip and the other installers, and running it as admin. Although once in around 5-6 tries, it successfully opens, but with a black screen and no transparent window, even if the settings are checked.

I would appreciate some help! This is way too cute and I honestly would love to have it forever. Thanks in advance!

(1 edit)

Hi! Did things stop working when you switched to a new version of the game (I uploaded the v1.1 installer yesterday) or did it just stop working on its own?

(1 edit)

Sorry for the very late reply. My first time downloading it was with the zip, and it was working perfectly fine. Unless you also uploaded a different zip version, then I would say the latter. Thanks! I'll try to reply faster next time.

For further information: I got news that this exists from twitter, might help narrow down the time installed.

This is very weird! When it works, is it maybe because you do not focus another window while the game is loading? It is important to remain on the game window so the transparent background stuff can be done properly.

If this is not the issue, please send me the log file! You can find it in C:\Users\your user name\AppData\LocalLow\MonAmiral\Takodachi and friends, and you can send it using pastebin https://pastebin.com/

Yes, the few times it works is because it is kept unfocused/minimized. But outside of that, it won't even launch past the unity screen.

There are 2 files in that directory, so I will send both.

Hmm, the log contains no errors whatsoever... It is weird that it works only when the transparent window thing fails to activate, this might be the issue... I'll investigate.

i have the same problem :(

As I answered above, make sure the window is focused until the end of the loading. If this is not the issue, please send me the log file.

You can find it in C:\Users\your user name\AppData\LocalLow\MonAmiral\Takodachi and friends, and you can send it using pastebin https://pastebin.com/ (same issue, same answer, but don't worry I paid attention!)

now when i focus the windows the background is black

(+1)

Hmm, there are no errors in your logs either, is the game playable when the background is black?

(+1)

Yes, the games are still as cute and playable as ever. (Atleast, in my case)

yes, the only problem now is the black background :(

Hi! Just wanted to stop by and say your app is amazing. I want to leave a few comments on the minigame Death sensei, which seems to be the minigame that could use the most improvement. First and foremost, the timing is a bit jank. Clicking on the beat gives me “Good” while having to wait a few ms for the circle to properly overlap gives the “Great” judgement. Pretty off-putting when you’re trying to play to the beat. Speaking of the beat, cutting randomly in the song gives the minigame a really weird and incomplete feeling for the player, even more so with abrupt endings. Again, there’s a lot to improve on. But for what it’s worth it’s pretty good. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me to elaborate more on these!

-Gavin

Thanks for the input! This was my first rhythm game so it was hard to get things right immediately, I may do some improvements soon!

Hey! I have troubles on downloading it in my laptop (it's windows 10). It says "Failed-Forbidden", and when I searched why, it only says that I don't have permission to install it. I hope you can tell me some other things to install it! Thank you so much!!

(+1)

Hey! Hey! It worked already!! WAH IT'S SO CUTEEEE!! THANK YOOUUUU!

(+1)

The game is such a great idea, simple but fun!
Love also the minigames!!

I'm glad you like it! People enjoy playing it a lot and I enjoyed making it a lot so I'm very happy!

Yes, the scrollwheel input is considered only if the window is the "active" one in windows :)

Deleted 1 year ago

That's not part of the plan for the upcoming update, but I might add it later, it's pretty simple to implement!
It takes 3 full days to lose 100% hunger/fun, so you should be okay even if you skip one or two days from time to time.

is this a virus like bonzybuddy?

You download it, fall in love with it, and you will never have the heart to uninstall it!

i love it omg pls make more stuff!

excuse me, I want to ask how can my takodachi gain a higher HP, I'm afraid that it will die .::>_<::
and when playing the mini-game, Kotori. the game will be quit automatically in a few time, and don't give any coin.

p.s.
the takodachi you made is soooooooooo adorable, that I really really like it.

(my mother language is not English, so if it is any grammar mistake, just ignore it இ௰இ)

Hey sakurataka! Your english is fine!

Takodachi has no HP! They die only if the hunger or fun reaches 0, it takes several days!

The gauge with a heart is the love gauge! Taking care of Tako (food and games) gives you love too! If you do not take care of Tako, the love will slowly reduce... Please take good care of them!

The coins do not work yet! They will allow you to buy hats for Tako one day. Does the Kotori game quit immediately or after you see "WRONG"?

I am very happy you liked my game!

(+1)

thank you for your help !! all of my questions (the gauge of love & Kotori) have been solved !\^o^/

idk if I'm just terrible but I can't complete any of the drawing minigames :(

Hey PaperCrown! Maybe this is a bug, can you describe what happens?

Do the dotted lines disappear when you draw over them?

When most visible dotted lines have disappeared, does the camera move to another position?

I draw over the lines and they sometimes disappear, but sometimes they don't and I end up drawing over them entirely so it gets hard to see where the dotted lines are, I also have really shaky hands when trying to draw lines so it might not register it as filled in. I've gotten through most of one but I got locked near the end.

I fixed the issues with the drawing minigames with a new update! There is even a GIF export button now!

This game is suppperr good! The graphics are amazing, and everything is so smooth. The minigames are all pretty challenging if aiming to  get a perfect score, and the drawing game has a very cool design.(though I facepalmed a lot seeing my wonky drawing) BIg ups to you guys!!

I'm glad you liked it Mosbby!

what should transparent window look like?

is this normal when i still see the window while opening transparent window?

sorry for bad english:(

(1 edit)

Hey! Your english is OK!

Here are four situations:

The top-right one is default, Transparent window ON: you can see behind Takodachi.

The top-left one has Transparent window OFF and Green screen ON.

The top-right one has Transparent window OFF and Green screen OFF.

The bottom-right one should not happen, but is not a big problem! Please keep the focus on the game window when it starts!

i already focus on the game but i still on the bottom-right problem.

am i focus wrong?

(+1)

omg i success!! thank you for the help!!

Does this work for Windows 10 only? I'm on Windows 8.1 and after launching it, it gets terminated

I haven't tested it for Windows 8.1, it should work since what I do to make the window transparent should be supported.

Does it stop right after the Unity loading screen? Is the window moved/rescaled before it stops?

(4 edits)

The music just plays 1/2 notes, then the program gets terminated

I see the window with the cursed tako loading until the half of the bar

Yeah, the main window moves to the right and i think it gets a little resized. I can barely see the Unity logo loading.

I can send you a video on Discord if you need it

(1 edit)

I have added a build which may fix the issue! Please download it and tell me if it works! The difference with the normal build will be that the window will not be transparent.

It's still not working, now I can't hear the music starting and it does the same thing

I have trouble controlling Bloop. He moves so slowly I'm not even sure if he is moving towards my cursor, or just doesn't accept input.
Am I supposed to hold something, or should he just move towards the cursor like Bubba?

Also I have gotten stuck multiple times in the drawing minigame, where I've already drawn so much that I can't even see the lines, but it's still not accepting it as valid and I'm stuck scribbling around until it accepts. If better detection is a problem, maybe just a button in a corner to "force progress" when you are satisfied, since currently it's  extremely frustrating.

Other than that, I love it. It's cute as hell and entertaining. Also reminds me of various "desktop pets" so it's kinda nostalgic.

Bloop is supposed to slowly move towards your cursor. There is a lot of inertia on purpose, but I should add some VFX or any kind of feedback to show how it works.
Can you record a video or a GIF of the minigame, showing your cursor? This may be a bug!

As for the drawing minigame, yes, I will add a highlight on the lines that aren't completed after some time! I'm increasing the priority on this improvement hehe.

I'm glad you like the game! It was very fun to make.

After playing with Bloop a little more I can see that it's working, the inertia is just that extreme. I think toning it  down a little bit might be a good idea since currently I feel hardly in control at all.

For the drawing, I don't think highlights will solve the issue. If I have a line basically "colored over" to the point it's not visible and it's not detected as drawn then a highlight will only tell me to re-scribble the same area over and over and count on luck. It kinda looks like there might be some bug with detection, since some lines disappear when you vaguely draw near them, and other are extremely persistent to the point where I had to resort to randomly scribbling    nowhere near them  to move on.
And since improving detection might be hard, a manual "move on" button would be a nice stopgap measure, and might even just be a temporary measure. Alternatively have it move after some time/some time spent without drawing or something like that.

I'll look for the cause of the detection issues! It might be related to the camera, perspective, and the distance between the canvas you draw on and the dotted lines: in some scenes it's way too far away so lines far from the center of the screen are misaligned.

Bloop was WAY too hard to move if your framerate was too low! I fixed this issue in the latest update and you should have no problem now :)
